Welcome!

Linda JeffersIn a world of so many great photographers and writers, I am venturing into some unknown territories, leaving comfort zones, finally very willing to practice the art of seeing. By maintaining the practice of posting daily photos, I hope to continue learning about the possibilities that I trust are out there for the taking.

Come join me on my journey!

Hubby.

Working with on-camera flash, Ray gave a whopping big 2 minutes to get the settings on the Canon Speedlite 580EX II right and take this photo, hence Ray’s position in the center of the frame is not what I would like.

Ray

Speedlite comes to the rescue.

I’d been watching Syl Arena teach Speedlighting on Scott Kelby’s training site when Ray came in and sat down at his computer. When I turned back to say hi to Ray I couldn’t believe the spot of sunlight directly lighting Ray’s face perfectly. I shot off a frame, uploaded it to Lightroom and then noticed that the aperture priority setting on my camera had selected a shutter speed of 1/15th of a second. I’m not able to hand hold my camera at that slow a speed and his photo was out of focus.

Since I had the 580EXII Speedlite and off camera flash cable right in front of me (I’d been referring to it during Syl’s online Speedliting tutorial) I hooked the Speedlight and off camera cable up to my camera and took two more shots of Ray.

Ray seated at his desk/computer behind me right after the sun set below the San Jacinto mountains.

What a year for my husband.

Double hernia surgery a month ago, oral surgery today, and an upcoming knee surgery and more rehab.

Ray's oral surgery smile:-)

Off……physically, emotionally, mentally and photographically.

A photo flipped in Photoshop. I guess I was bored with the photos I shot today.

Screamer. We always know when he is outside.

Trying to take so-so photos and make something. hmmmmmm.

Couldn't resist shooting Ray in the light falling on him while he was in his cave with his cave toys. His patience with my requests for poses lasted only minutes. He didn't like any of the shots I took. Neither did I because Ray (he's getting better but) freezes in front of the camera. I like his beard. I know it's not gonna last long so I wanted a photo.

While outside on the porch thinking about how I could photograph the critters differently than I have been, I turned and saw my reflection over Ray inside.

My hubby and me this morning on our training hike. Please, if there is a God, let Ray be fit enough to go on our Whitney backpack. Photo by Jennifer Clark.

Some 4:30pm golf.

Out playing golf again, well a few late afternoon holes of golf (and photo play).

Even carried my Speedlight flash and cord for some off camera flash after the sun went down. That's my hubby:-)

Golf or photos, is always a difficult question. Today both won.

Shame on me that I have not mentioned this before, but my husband won low net over all fields in the Mission Hills CC Seniors tournament (he almost didn’t sign up for because he didn’t feel he was playing well!) Here’s his trophy.

Congratulations Ray!

Late afternoon golf. I'm playing in Santa Barbara in about 2 weeks and me thinks I ought to see if I can even hit the ball.

My husband, the Spotter, spotted this hawk.

And he spotted this bunny.

I didn't even see the arrow made of weeds when I took this shot.

I was hoping for a star of light when I shot this photo of San Jacinto.

Lakeside golf course reflections just before the sun went behind SJ.

A long day comes to an end.

Stage is set for the ladies arrival.....for an evening meeting.

Stacy and Ray after watching Stacy's first short film she's ever made. Bravo Stacy. Great work.

Grapes are left over from the snacks we ladies brought in from the kitchen while watching Stacy’s video.
Box of books are the books Ray will be using when he does his Book Study every Tuesday, except for the 1st Tuesday of each month.

My not-techie husband dared touching the iPhone during lunch.

It won't be long now before my husband has to have an iPhone too.

Hey Babe, were you really trying to figure out the iPhone or were you posing for my shot?
