Welcome!

Linda JeffersIn a world of so many great photographers and writers, I am venturing into some unknown territories, leaving comfort zones, finally very willing to practice the art of seeing. By maintaining the practice of posting daily photos, I hope to continue learning about the possibilities that I trust are out there for the taking.

Come join me on my journey!

Red Moon.

Off to lead a MHCC hike, but had to get up one photo from this morning’s total lunar eclipse!

Don't know if I like this moon better or not?

La Luna Before The Total Eclipse.

Lone fearless Coot.

I went out to shoot the moon but couldn't see it........until my phone rang, and "Spotter" called to tell me he was driving to the golf store (again) and asked, "Had I seen the orange moon low in the sky?"

Here is a link on how to photograph the eclipse.

Here is a link to what I’m going to get up real early to photograph tomorrow morning.

Beginning and end of a nice evening.

iPhone photo taken at Manhatten's early in our evening.

At the end of the evening the moon was low on the horizon looking sooooo enormous. By the time I got home and set up for this shot the moon looked different but enjoyed the peace and quiet of the 1/2 hour I stayed out to shoot.

Shooting in the dark is always challenging.

I just got my Canon EF S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM lens back from repair (the second time). I wasn’t told what the problem was but they said it was restored to good working condition. Why I sent it back was because dust accumulates inside the lens very quickly. Hopefully the interior seals or whatever is repaired.

On morning hikes I carry the Canon EOS 7D and this morning it was fitted with the repaired lens. Both photos below were shot with the 7D and EF S 17-55 mm lens, shot in manual mode and manual focus. It’s dark when we begin our hikes so I have to guess at presetting the focal length distance manually as auto focus is useless.

Waiting for my hiking buds this morning. That's Ann pulling in.

Camera settings:
1/180 sec, f4.5, ISO 640, focal length 20mm.

Jen and Ann are always so willing to surprise me with fun antics when asked to do something (even though photo taking sometimes makes Jen a bit later than she wants to be...even though she teaches at a nearby school.)

Camera settings:
1/180 sec, f6.7, ISO 1000, focal length 35mm.
I added the Lightroom preset Edge Wow 08 to this photo.

Slowly going through 1500 backpacking photos (taken over 6 days).

Sunrise our last morning at Trail Camp below Mt. Whitney.

And when I apply a Topaz Adjust filter, the photo looks like this. I like that the backpacker/photographer shooting the sunrise pops out in this look of the same scene.

It’s looking like I won’t have the backpacking photos uploaded to the Portfolio section of my website.

Before Jen’s car was broken into and her pack was stolen (filled with all the gear for our trip.)

I believe one of the girls, knowing I only wanted to shoot them as they were facing forward, said, "If you stand on your toes, your calves will look stronger."

Yes Jen, I'm taking your photo.

Another moon morning.

Iphone photos taken just following the JTBP meeting.

Ray left before I did but called me when he noticed the full moon rising above the horizon.

Melissa and I ran towards an opening in the trees to start our photo shoot.

I always laugh when I’m with Melissa. Tonight was no exception, especially when she was playing with her clothes.

What a night!!!!!!!!

This is the best time in the desert. Nights are balmy and I love being outside. Tonight was a bonanza for me. I initially went out to shoot some cloud patterns, but ended up looking left and right for the next two hours.

In my photomontage class I need texture backgrounds. I went out around 5:30pm and photographed patterns in the white clouds.

Two hours later, I'm still out. I got lucky with tonight's offerings.

While shooting the moon in the east, I turned back toward the west just in time to see this color.

I'd walked the 18th fairway over to the Clubhouse, so while walking back to shoot the moon I learned some good shooting positions for future moon shots.

I have so many great shots. This was one of the last I took before I headed back inside.

Easy access to most of my camera gear is important.

6:40am this morning, one day after the full moon.

After shooting the moon this morning, I tried to shoot the rainbow.
