My goodness, Linda Jeffers! I was wondering how you would do with wedding photography. And as is typical, you blew by my already-high expectations. And after thinking about it for a minute, I shouldn’t be surprised at all. Since I first became aware of Gottago, I saw that you had a strong response to joy. And an ability to encourage joy in others. I love my trail name.

These are great shots. And I think that the bride and groom will think of the photography of their wedding as a time of fun and laughter, rather than something simply necessary and something they have to get through. A real gift for them.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Sorry to hear of your brother, I did not know or hear about that. It was a good ship, I was on the USS Hancock my last WESTPAC cruise and much preferred the Oriskany. I can’t remember which tour but the USS Forrestal blew up and we were the first ship to her and they were pushing armed and gassed aircraft overboard to avoid further trouble on one of my tours. She was bigger and much newer than either the O boat or the Hancock. She was listing with a big hole blown in the flight deck.

My brother died as a result of a boiler room explosion on the Oriskany in 1963. That ship had more than its share of tragedy.

The Oriskany caught on fire from a mark 24 flare being ignited and thrown back in the storage full of flares. It melted the flight deck and many pilots who were in there quarters. That was in 1966 the year before I came aboard. Many of the men who were aboard when the fire happened told me all about it.
