Welcome!

Linda JeffersIn a world of so many great photographers and writers, I am venturing into some unknown territories, leaving comfort zones, finally very willing to practice the art of seeing. By maintaining the practice of posting daily photos, I hope to continue learning about the possibilities that I trust are out there for the taking.

Come join me on my journey!

Back to back hikes up Bump & Grind.

Second day Connie and I got up and out for another 7:30am morning hike. I’m on a roll. And it appears others are on a roll too. This is one freeway of a trail. If the hike wasn’t such a good workout I’d find another trail (which I may do anyway). From leaving my home to returning again, doing this hike (at this point, ie my slow pace) requires a 3 hour commitment of time.

Bump & Grind stats:
2+ miles
1000 feet elevation gain.
some good uneven trail tread

Before we even got on the trail, I got the small camera out to snap off these two shots to show just how crowded this trail is.

Lower switchbacks at start of hike.

Lane arrives tonight. My son has been in LA visiting friends and then spending time with my brother Don. Don and Lane went out on my brother’s boat for a couple of days. Don will be flying Lane down here to the desert around 5pm tonight.

I’m excited about spending time with Lane. He is a very good photographer, naturally. I’d give anything to have his eye AND his mind. Maybe he’ll go out for a shoot or two some morning or night.

Wednesday Lane, Ray and I fly up to my sister Leila’s in Portland where the rest of the Sher family will also be. All of our family except my brother, Don, and Colleen. Thursday all of us at Lee’s will drive to Leila’s beach house a couple of hours away for 2 and a half days. Don will fly his plane in to a small local beach side airport and then join up with us. I love when my family gets together. They are my most favorite people in the world to spend time with. We honor our deceased parents’ wishes that we all meet up at least once a year.

I’m already panicking since I won’t be bringing my computer with me. Life without my computer? What an order! But Ray is right, I will be spending most of the time with my family. I know Ray is trying to lighten the load so won’t have much to transport since he still isn’t supposed to carry anything over 15 pounds. What Ray doesn’t know is that I will NOT be leaving my camera gear, flash lights and tripod behind. Well, he doesn’t know until he reads this entry that is. tee hee.
